A simple yet tasty dish that goes well with garlic and chilli sauce. This will get those taste buds started in a hurry.
Peel and devein the prawns. Leave the tails as not only they are a great accessory for finger food but also they add quite a bit of a visual enhancement to the finished meal. Wash the prawns thoroughly in cold water.
Then grind onions, ginger, pepper, cloves and garlic into fine paste. We all have a handy mortar and pestle somewhere in the kitchen. Mix the prawns with the ground paste and leave aside for 20 minutes for seasoning.
Then combine salt and one cup of water into medium sized pot and bring to the boil. Carefully place the prawns in boiling water and cook for 3 minutes. Don’t cook any more than 3 minutes.
Drain the water immediately and keep the prawn aside for 5 minutes.
Then make a runny batter using the corn flour, baking powder and vegetable oil in a separate mixing bowl. Dip the pre-cooked prawns and deep fry them until golden brown.
This is a great dish as an appetizer or a side dish. Cut the lemon into wedges and decorate around the plate.
